A forging algorithm is a method used in some blockchain systems to create new blocks and validate transactions. Unlike traditional mining, which requires extensive computational power, forging relies on a different approach called Proof of Stake (PoS).In PoS, validators are chosen to create new blocks based on the number of coins they hold and are willing to “stake” as collateral. This means that the more coins a person has staked, the higher their chances of being selected to add the next block to the chain. This process is seen as more energy-efficient and environmentally friendly than mining.Once a validator is chosen, they verify the transactions in the block, ensuring they are valid and secure. After this verification, the new block is added to the blockchain, and the validator earns rewards, often in the form of transaction fees or new coins.Forging algorithms aim to secure the network while promoting decentralization and reducing the resource consumption associated with traditional mining methods. This approach allows for faster transaction times and lower fees, benefiting users and promoting network growth.
