Consensus Finality

Consensus finality refers to the point at which a transaction or block is considered irreversibly confirmed within a blockchain network. Once finality is achieved, it becomes extremely difficult to alter or reverse the transaction. This builds trust among users by ensuring that once a transaction is confirmed, it cannot be tampered with. Two primary mechanisms implement consensus finality: proof of work and proof of stake. In proof of work, multiple confirmations over time create a chain of trust; the more confirmations a block has, the more secure it is. In contrast, proof of stake may use validators to reach consensus quicker, often enabling immediate finality after a transaction is added to the blockchain.Achieving consensus finality is crucial for the overall integrity and reliability of a blockchain. It helps prevent issues like double spending, where the same asset is spent more than once. Overall, this feature enhances the confidence of users in a blockchain system.
