In an effort to educate and register voters in swing states, crypto advocate Michelle Bond has announced the launch of Project Swing. That is, according to a Wednesday report by The Block.
This project, unveiled by Bond’s think tank Digital Future, will focus majorly on educating voters about crucial crypto-related matters as the upcoming U.S. election season draws near.
Per Bond, many voters in these states do not yet have an idea of the impact of fintech and digital assets on both national and global financial systems. This is exactly what Project Swing primarily hopes to pass across, she noted.
The CEO of Digital Future also mentioned that the importance of this kind of program cannot be overemphasized. Moreso, at a peculiar time in financial evolution such as the present. Part of Bond’s statement reads:
“Project Swing is designed to bridge this knowledge gap, increase voter registration, and ensure the right candidates are elected to support financial freedom and shape the future of the financial services industry in the United States.”
Project Swing Emerges
A major focal point for this initiative are the unregistered voters spread across swing states including Arizona, Nevada, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and North Carolina.
According to a press release, Project Swing will seek to engage “like-minded voters” from across these states. These crop of voters will actively participate in the electoral process by helping to educate and register people to vote.
As Crypto Infiltrates Global Politics
The announcement comes amid growing political interest in the crypto sector. Or better still, it comes at a time that crypto is grounding its roots into the core of global politics. In America, for instance, the Republican Party has already added support for crypto firms into its 2024 election platform. In addition to that, the top political party also pledged to put an end to what it terms an “unlawful crackdown” on the U.S. crypto industry.
Even on the other side of the divide (Democrats), which used to be relatively hostile to crypto, there are indications that they are beginning to soft-pedal. Vice President Kamala Harris and her advisors have been rumored to be exploring crypto-related policies. On top of that, recent reports confirm that Harris will also be speaking at the Bitcoin conference this week.
Unlike traditional political action committees (PACs) that focus on funding specific campaigns, Project Swing adopts a grassroots approach. The project is only focusing on voter education and registration as earlier stated.
