Lead Shiba Inu developers Shytoshi Kusama and Kaal Kaal Dhairya have revealed plans to hand over control of the project to its community by the end of 2024. The development was shared on a recent episode of the AB Majlis podcast.

Shytoshi Kusama and Kaal Kaal Dhairya to Step Down, Cite Decentralization

According to the lead developers, the move is aimed at achieving “true decentralization,” a major goal and vision of Shiba Inu’s original founder, Ryoshi.

For what it’s worth, Kusama and Dhairya have been quite instrumental in the development of Shiba Inu. That is, they both played prominent roles in the project’s rise to fame. However, it appears that the decision to transition leadership is already made. Kusama said in a statement:

“At the end of this year, we will hand everything over to the community, and we step away.”

Meanwhile, the developer was quick to note that this transition does not mean that the team of developers is pulling away from the project. Rather, it is an idea vested in empowering the community.

Kusama’s sentiments were echoed by his colleague Dhairya. However, the latter did not start without reflected on their journey thus far. That is, from ordinary users to key figures within the crypto space.

Detailing their rise from ordinary community members to key developers and drivers of a major crypto revolution, Dhairya said:

“We started off buying tokens like everyone else, and now we’re transitioning the project to the community’s control.”

What The Future Holds for The Shiba Inu Community

Notably, Kusama and Dhairya maintained anonymity throughout their tenure. They achieved this by using masked appearances and voice modulation to ensure unbiased feedback and genuine engagement with the Shiba Inu community.

According to Dhairya, that level of anonymity was a “superpower” for them. It allowed them to seamlessly integrate with the community and gather honest input crucial for the project’s organic growth.

Their choice to remain anonymous further proves that they are intent on prioritizing the community-centric nature of Shiba Inu over individual recognition. This approach underscores their commitment to decentralization and the project’s success beyond personal accolades.

As Kusama and Dhairya prepare to step down, Shiba Inu faces a critical test of its decentralized model. That is, as the forthcoming transition is expected to empower the community in governance and technological development.

As Kusama noted, the project’s future may just lie in the collective innovation and engagement of its members.

As of publication, Shiba inu’s native token SHIB is up 6.27% in the last 24 hours, and was seen trading at $0.00001387.
