NBA Topshot NFT sales, and that is all thanks to the 2024-2025 NBA season, which has recently begun and has brought fresh excitement to fans and collectors alike. It all started on October 22 when the Boston Celtics faced off against the New York Knicks. In the build up to the game, the buzz around NBA Topshot NFTs spiked massively, leading them to record their highest sales in six months.
According to data from The Block for the week ending on October 27, NBA Topshot’s weekly sales reached an impressive 43,600 NFTs. That represented more than a 94% increase from the total sales seen in the week before.
Without a doubt, the start of the new season has brought a fresh air of enthusiasm to the market. Hence, the notable growth within such a short time after what has been a relatively quiet offseason for NBA digital collectibles.
Earlier this year, NBA Topshot saw steady engagement, with weekly sales around 43,000 NFTs before the playoffs. However, interest soon dropped, particularly during and after the playoff season. At this point, the collectibles were only averaging around 26,000 NFTs in weekly sales.
As many believe, the slowdown was likely due to fans shifting their focus to live games. Besides, there has been a reduced activity in the broader NFT space all year long.
Now, with a fresh season underway, it appears that fans are once again turning to NBA Topshot to secure digital highlights of their favorite players and teams. With this level of demand at the season’s start, the outlook for NBA Topshot appears strong.
